A EMD SW1200 é uma locomotiva [[Diesel-elétrico|diesel-elétrica]] construída pela [[General Motors]] [[Electro-Motive Diesel|Electro-Motive Division]]  A unidade é equpiada por um motor primário [[EMD]] [[EMD 567|12-567C]], produzindo 1200[[hp]] (890 [[kW]]).&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Foram Fabricadas pela EMD Norte Americana: (Ver detalhes na Tabela)&lt;br /&gt;

== Estrada de Ferro Amapá ==&lt;br /&gt;
As quatro unidades nacionais foram destinadas a [[Estrada de Ferro Amapá]], em bitola standard (1435mm) e truques AAR. Sendo as três primeiras entregues em Janeiro de [[1954]] e a quarta em maio de [[1966]]. Foram numeradas de #1 a 4, sendo entregues com uma pintura Amarela e Vermelha.&lt;br /&gt;

== SW1500 ==&lt;br /&gt;
Para o Brasil apenas uma unidade foi comprada, pela [[Estrada de Ferro Amapá]] em Outubro de[[1971]]. Sua fabricação foi feita em [[La Grange]], [[Illinois]] na planta americana da EMD, chegando ainda nesse mesmo ano ao Brasil. Possui número de fabricação #38826 e foi numerada pela E.F.Amapá como #5.&lt;br /&gt;

=== Estrada de Ferro Amapá ===&lt;br /&gt;
Com o fim do minério de manganês [[Serra do Navio]] a ferrovia foi devolvida ao estado do Amapá, que a operou até 2007. Em 2007 o empresário [[Eike Batista]] através da [[MMX]] comprou a concessão da EFAmapá. Hoje essas maquinas pertencem ao estado do Amapá, e estão sendo operadas por uma concessão a MMX. Recentemente com a compra de sete [[GE C30-7]] de segunda mão do [[México]], essas maquinas (SW1200 e SW1500) passaram a ter menor importância para a E.F.Amapá, entretanto, foram as principais e únicas locomotivas daquela ferrovia por décadas.&lt;br /&gt;

A maioria das SW 1200 e SW1500 já foram aposentadas e cortadas ou preservadas em museus pelo mundo. Foram substituídas pelas EMD MP15 ou mesmo deixaram de existir sem substitutas, em ferrovias que com o uso de Hump Yard&amp;#039;s cortaram significativamente a demanda por manobras.&lt;br /&gt;
